Last April I was in Dallas, Texas for the Forever Living Products Global Rally. It was a great experience! In addition to learning from company leaders, connecting with old friends and making new contacts, I had the opportunity to volunteer some time with Rise Against Hunger.
Rise Against Hunger is an international not-for-profit organization working to end hunger by distributing meals, sharing knowledge and innovation in agriculture, and empowering developing communities. Since the organization was founded in North Carolina in 1998, they have packaged more than 400 million meals to serve people in 74 countries. In 2017, they reached 1.4 million people through their safety net, crisis relief and agriculture and income-generating programs.
Forever Living Products (FLP) first started its corporate partnership with Rise Against Hunger in 2015, when employees and independent distributors came together to package 300,000 meals at the Global Rally in Singapore. In 2016, FLP volunteers packaged 350,000 meals at the Global Rally in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2017, FLP’s commitment rose to packaging 1 million meals. At various times during the year the company coordinated volunteer events in the home office in Scottsdale, Arizona; in regional offices in Germany, Greece, Sweden, Italy and India; and at the 2017 Global Rally in Dubai.
In 2018, FLP has set an even more ambitious goal: package 5 million meals by the end of 2019. At the Global Rally in Dallas, we packaged more than 400,000 meals over two days. What a rush to be part of that accomplishment!
So far in 2018, FLP volunteers have packaged almost 1.9 million meals. Additional events are planned for the Philippines, Baltics, Romania, Australia, Slovakia and Benelux before the end of this year. At this rate, we’ll easily meet – and even exceed – our goal.
If you’d like to get involved, you can! You can either shop Forever Giving Products or donate money to help fund the meals which will be packaged and distributed around the world. You can also choose to join – or host! – a food packaging event in your region. It’s a great way to help make difference.
